Cooking with Weed 101

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never done it before, if you enjoy everything about marijuana then you’ve wondered at some point or another if youcooking101.png would be any good at cooking with it. It doesn’t matter if you have never cooked with it before or you’ve been just too baked to get around to it, now that you’ve finally decided to learn to cook with weed or, more specifically cannabutter, you have come to the right place to learn how.

Cannabutter enables marijuana connoisseurs to implement cannabis into their cooking in a manner that is much less time-prohibitive than simply mixing ground marijuana into your recipes. Additionally, cooking with cannabutter has the benefit of tasting much better without the odd texture of ordinary chopped cannabis.

As you may have already gathered from the name, cannabutter has two main ingredients: cannabis and butter. When making cannabutter it is recommended to use one ounce of cannabis for optimal desired results. However, if obtaining a full ounce of marijuana is prohibitive you can use as little as half that amount with varying degrees of success. Next, obtain no less than one pound of unsalted butter. While many people enjoy the more popular salted butter commonly found in supermarkets, unsalted butter is preferred in this recipe because the mixture can always be salted to taste. Furthermore, some recipes that you may choose to use the cannabutter in may call for unsalted butter as well.

The cannabis needs to be ground into a fine powder to ensure that it mixes well in the recipe. One popular option for grinding cannabis is an ordinary coffee grinder or food processor. Though any part of the cannabis plant of any desired potency can be used, you always want to remember that the absolute best butter will be made from the highest quality bud. After the cannabis is finely ground, heat the butter on the stove at medium-low heat until it reaches a liquid consistency. Add the ground cannabis while stirring the melted butter until it is thoroughly mixed. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 to 30 minutes, being careful not to burn the mixture. Separate from heat and strain with cheesecloth. Store the finished cannabutter in a plastic food container such as Tupperware or even a clean, used plastic margarine container. To maintain a longer cannabutter shelf life, you can add a bit of water to the top of the butter and seal it.

This recipe can be made with an assortment of other fat substitutes in the place of butter, if you wish. The main requirement for replacement is that the ingredient has to contain fat. Examples include lard, margarine, milk, shortening and oil. Acceptable oils include canola, vegetable, peanut, sesame, sunflower, and olive.

Though this recipe will yield a great tasting cannabutter, some people have found that they are not fond of the strong odor that it can make while cooking. If this is the case for you, the easy process of making cannaoil may be more suitable. In a glass container that is light-proof, mix oil and cannabis and shake vigorously once a day for at least a week and let settle the rest of the time. The longer that you allow the oil and cannabis to mix, the more potent and pleasant the cannaoil will be. As a result, some choose to utilize this method for up to several months. After you have let them mix for a sufficient amount of time, strain the oil from the buds thoroughly. The oil can now be used in any recipe that calls for oil.

Cannaflour is another popular option that doesn’t require cooking. Cannaflour is made by combining finely ground cannabis with flour and can be included in any recipe that calls for flour. The correct ratio of cannabis to flour is ½ cup cannabis for every 1 cup of flour.

By using one or more of the above methods, you are now ready to cook any recipe that calls for milk, butter, oil, or flour and enjoy the benefits of your marijuana.

  1. Also I think it worth mentioning that you can cook with hash also and in fact it’s generally easier to do so.

Any of the recipes on this site can also be made using hash instead of weed and infact it requires less preparation. In most cases you can simply sprinkle the hash directly into whatever you are baking before baking it… There’s no need to make cannabutter, as hash is much more easily digested, and gets you wasted even if you eat a lump, which I don’t advise because of possible stomach problems…

Generally 1 gram of hash is enough to get anybody wasted - severely tripping really… and if it’s really good then be careful, 1.5 grams of strong stuff, is enough to do you in and make you sick, as I know from past experience..
